How to pray the Rosary

The Rosary is a quiet walk through the life of Jesus with Mary. Go at your own pace: this page never moves on by itself (unless you turn on Voice with Auto-advance). It keeps your place.

  1. At the crucifix, make the Sign of the Cross and pray the Apostles’ Creed.
  2. On the first large bead, pray the Our Father. On the next three small beads, pray a Hail Mary on each, traditionally for faith, hope, and charity. Then pray the Glory Be.
  3. For each of the five decades, name the mystery and picture the scene for a moment. Pray the Our Father on the large bead, then a Hail Mary on each of the ten small beads while you keep the mystery in mind. Close the decade with the Glory Be and the O My Jesus prayer.
  4. After the fifth decade, pray the Hail, Holy Queen and the concluding prayer, and finish with the Sign of the Cross.

Which mysteries? Joyful on Monday and Saturday, Sorrowful on Tuesday and Friday, Glorious on Wednesday and Sunday, Luminous on Thursday. The page picks today’s set for you, but you are free to choose any set.

Using this page: tap Next (or press →) when you have finished each prayer. Tap a bead to jump to it. Your place is remembered for the rest of the day.

Voice: turn on Voice and tap Play to hear each prayer read aloud. With a keyboard, Space plays or pauses, V turns the voice on or off, and A turns Auto-advance on or off, and [ and ] make the voice slower or faster (or tap the speed button, e.g. 1×). The voice you choose is saved on your device (about 5 MB) so it works offline. You can remove it anytime.
